Mendy resumed his football career with the French team Lorient just 5 days after being acquitted of the charges against him (French)

Frenchman Benjamin Mendy filed a lawsuit against his former team Manchester City, over unpaid wages worth millions of euros, according to the British newspaper "Sun" on Monday.

The case was filed with the UK Labour Court over "unauthorised wage deductions".

Mendy's 29-year-old lawyer said: "Manchester City did not pay Mendy's wages as of September 2021. After acquitting him of all charges of various crimes, we demand that his wages be paid until the end of his contract in June 2023."

Earlier this year, Mendy was acquitted of charges of rape and attempted sexual assault.

Mendy's last appearance in the Premier League was with Man City's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in August 2021.

Mendy's activity was suspended for more than two years, but the former Marseille and Monaco player resumed his football career with French side Lorient, just 5 days after his acquittal.
