English premier league soccer club Brighton have announced that they have extended the contract of Japan international player Kaoru Mitoma until June 4, four years later.

The 26-year-old moved to Brighton from J1 club Kawasaki Frontale and scored seven goals last season, the most in the history of a Japan player, by demonstrating his attacking ability with slow and rapid dribbling.

He has been a mainstay of the team this season, scoring three goals in eight league appearances so far.

The club announced on its official website on June 20 that it has extended Mitoma's contract until June 4, four years later.

Coach Roberto De Zerbi expressed his delight at the extension of Mitoma's contract, saying, "This is great news and he is our top player."

The team's technical director also commented: "Mitoma adapted to the English Premier League last season and quickly became one of the most important players."
