Football: Paris Saint-Germain outclass OM and return to the Ligue 1 podium

PSG dominated without difficulty an OM too limited offensively (4-0), this September 24 at the end of the 6th day Ligue 1. The Moroccan Achraf Hakimi, very legs, scored a superb free kick in the middle of the window. This victory allows the Parisians to find the podium of the championship.

It was time for this week to end for Olympique de Marseille. After several very eventful days for the Marseille club, which saw the departure of its coach Marcelino and a convincing performance against Ajax Amsterdam in the Europa League (3-3), the Marseillais could settle on the podium in case of success against their historical rival. But PSG, full of confidence after its victory against Dortmund in the Champions League (2-0), left no chance to its opponent at the Parc des Princes.

If it was still necessary to confirm the identity of play imprinted by Luis Enrique on this Parisian team, the first minutes of this classic were enough. Deprived of the ball from the beginning of the match, the Marseillais had no choice but to tackle a stirring Kylian Mbappé and concede a good free kick at the entrance of the box. The Moroccan Achraf Hakimi was not asked to convert this good ammunition by perfectly rolling his ball into the skylight of Pau López (8th, 1-0).

Vitor Vitinha then distinguished himself by penetrating the Parisian surface, before seeing his strike countered by a vigilant Marquinhos (12th). The Portuguese did it again ten minutes later thanks to a good centre from Jonathan Clauss, but his powerful header found Donnarumma's bar and offered the Parisians a reprieve (22nd). If the Phocaeans have little kept the ball, they have been able to exploit their few opportunities to threaten the opposing cage.

Hit in the ankle after the tackle suffered at the beginning of the match, Kylian Mbappé then gave way to Gonçalo Ramos at the half hour of play (32nd). A hard blow that did not disturb his team much, since Randal Kolo Muani, his teammate at the Blues, then opened his counter under the colors of Paris by effectively taking a ball deflected into the Marseille surface (32nd, 2-0). Struggling in the construction and without solution against the Parisian defense, the OM players suffered enormously at the end of the first half, overwhelmed by the offensive control of their opponents.

The Marseillais asphyxiated by the Parisian offensive control

The Parisians directly took OM by the throat on the return from the locker room, thanks to the header of Gonçalo Ramos at the first post in front of a helpless López (47th, 3-0). Like Kolo Muani, the Portuguese striker also scored his first goal in the Parisian jersey. Successful since the beginning of the match, Hakimi tried to find the net again from a free kick. But his low strike could only brush the Marseille right post (53rd).

Congolese international Chancel Mbemba then wanted to sound the revolt for the Marseille camp, but his header at the first post (61st) and his recovery in the box (71st) each lacked precision to really worry the Parisian goalkeeper. In the last seconds, Gonçalo Ramos offered himself a double on a good service of Kolo Muani to finish off the Marseillais (89th, 4-0).

With this success while in control, PSG continues its good momentum and returns to the podium of the championship by stealing the 3rd place in Monaco thanks to a better goal difference. OM is in 7th place in the ranking and will now have to find solutions to get out of the crisis.
