The English national football player Jadon Sancho will no longer train with the first team at his club Manchester United for the time being. This was announced by the Premier League club on its website on Thursday. Accordingly, it is first necessary to clarify a disciplinary problem in the squad. Until then, the former Dortmund player will complete "a personal training program far away from the first training group". Manchester United did not provide further details on the matter.

Sancho had previously defended himself with clear words against criticism from coach Erik ten Hag of his training performance and indirectly accused his coach of lies. "Please don't believe everything you read," the 23-year-old wrote almost two weeks ago on X, formerly Twitter. "I'm not going to allow people to say completely untrue things, I've behaved very well in training this week."

Dispute at Manchester United: Ex-BVB star Sancho defends himself against criticism from coach ten Hag

Ten Hag had removed the former Bundesliga professional from the squad, citing poor training performance. Sancho vehemently disagreed. "I think there are other reasons for this that I don't want to go into. I've been a scapegoat for a long time, which isn't fair," he wrote. However, he does not want to be influenced by this and will continue to fight. Sancho's post on X has since been deleted.

The winger joined United in 2021 for €85m after four successful years at BVB. However, he was rarely convincing at the traditional English club and, according to ten Hag, did not play at all for weeks last year due to "physical and mental problems". Most recently, national coach Gareth Southgate did not call him into the squad for the international matches against Ukraine and Scotland.

Antony is also missing

It's not the only excitement surrounding the English club. Brazilian Antony is also currently not taking part in training, the club announced earlier this week. Manchester United were responding to allegations of domestic violence against the 23-year-old winger by an ex-girlfriend.

"As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognize the importance of protecting all those involved in this situation and the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse."

Antony, who denies the allegations, also released a statement. He reaffirmed his innocent identity and announced that he would cooperate fully with the investigating authorities. "I'm looking forward to playing again as soon as possible," said the player.

Greenwood is gone

Antony had already been removed from the squad of the Brazilian national team because of the allegations.

Earlier, Mason Greenwod left the club in the summer, he was loaned to Getafe. The midfielder had been suspended on 30 January 2022 following a complaint by a young woman who accused him of attempted rape and assault, among other charges.

He was not allowed to play or train. After a year, the judiciary closed the investigation. After public criticism of considerations to reintegrate Greenwood into the team, United agreed with the professional footballer on a separation.

On 20 September, Manchester United will face FC Bayern in Munich on the first matchday of the Champions League group stage. Then probably with a thinned-out squad.
