Chilean tennis player
Ignacio Tejeda
, 17, died Tuesday of cancer that had been diagnosed last March.
The tragic death of the young man, who had moved to the United States in search of treatment, triggered numerous expressions of condolences on the circuit, since

,
Rafa Nadal
and
Dominic Thiem
had already been interested in his situation in recent months.
Tejeda fought for his life at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, where he underwent a stem cell transplant.

Marcelo Ríos
,

Cristian Garín
.
"On March 13, they did a biopsy and found a tumor the size of a fist, which was located in a complicated area, because it compromised the lung, the aorta, the vena cava and the heart," explained his friend,
José Tomás Traipe
to the newspaper
La Tercera
.
The first symptoms had been felt while training at the Manquehue club, on the outskirts of Santiago.
At first, Tejeda underwent several chemotherapy sessions and surgery.
However, a few weeks later the doctors observed that the tumor had reproduced again.
