China News Service, January 5th. The Chinese Volleyball Association issued a message of condolences on the 5th. The former Chinese women's volleyball coach Han Yunbo passed away on January 3 at the age of 86.

  The Volleyball Association wrote: "Comrade Han Yunbo served as the coach of the August 1 Women's Volleyball and China Women's Volleyball Team, and trained a large number of outstanding female volleyball players for the country. After retirement, Comrade Han Yunbo still works in the front line of volleyball, and has long assisted the Bayi Women's Volleyball Team and Beijing 101 The middle school women’s volleyball team started volleyball training and made a positive contribution to the development of our country’s volleyball career."

  Han Yunbo served as the head coach of the Chinese Women's Volleyball Team in 1975 and led his team to finish third in the first Asian Women's Volleyball Championship.

During the coaching of the Bayi Women's Volleyball Team, Han Yunbo trained Zhao Ruirui, an overseas player.

Liu Xiaotong, the Rio Olympics surprise soldier, was also trained by Han Yunbo.

  The Chinese Volleyball Association said: "Comrade Han Yunbo's life is a life dedicated to China's volleyball cause. Comrade Han Yunbo's death is a loss to China's volleyball. We would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the family of Comrade Han Yunbo!" (End)
