The coronavirus epidemic is out of control again in the UK, where a new variant of the virus was discovered at the end of December, and football does not appear to be escaping it.

40 cases of Covid-19 in players and staff members have been recorded in the Premier League since last week.

The competition will still continue as planned.

This figure is more than double the previous record of 18 cases recorded at the end of December, when England has just announced a return to total containment to fight against the spread of the new variant.
