November 14 was the last time Rögle played in the SHL.

Since then, a number of matches have had to be canceled due to a corona outbreak in the team.

On Tuesday night, HV71 waited for home ice in the first match in 17 days.

And after a goalless first period, an anything but ring-rusty Rögle accounted for a goal explosion in the second, with four goals in just under eight minutes.

Brady Ferguson made it 1-0 in a free kick after Niklas Hansson delicately played him out.

Two goals in 19 seconds

Four minutes later, the home team also came 2-0.

In powerplay, Dennis Everberg took care of a return and put the puck in goal from close range.

Just after the 2-0 goal, HV's Eric Martinsson was sent off for a high club.

In the ensuing numerical superiority, 3-0 came immediately through Nils Höglander, only 19 seconds behind Rögle's second goal.

But it did not end there.

Rögle really got a dividend and 4-0 came lucky when HV goalkeeper Hugo Alnefelt saved the puck, but no better than it bounced out on Daniel Zaar and into goal.

- We do a perfectly okay first period, initially in the second as well.

Then we totally collapse, says a resigned Eric Martinsson to C More after two periods.

HV coach: "My responsibility"

An HV71 without confidence was then not close to shaking life in the match that ended just 4-0.

HV71 is in eleventh place in the table, but coach Nicklas Rahm says he does not think about whether he hangs loose.

- Well, I'm more worried about how the team will go on, how the club will sort this out.

That is my responsibility now, he tells C More.

Rögle is second, only three points behind league leader Frölunda despite playing a full six games less.

- It's nice to be up and running again and great to start with a victory, says Rögle's Dennis Everberg.

For them, four matches are now waiting for six days after several matches have been canceled during the corona break.
