Nasty pictures right at the start of the Bahrain GP.

Romain Grosjean got stuck in the queue of cars and was about to drive past on the inside when he got a touch from behind.

The car went straight into the safety railing and was split in the middle right next to the fuel tank which exploded and started to burn heavily.

- You get nauseous from seeing the pictures, it's shocking, says Marcus Ericsson in Viasat's broadcast.

The part of the car that the driver is sitting in was wedged in the middle of the safety railing.

- It's unbelievable, I do not understand how he gets out of there, says Ericsson.

In the photos in the broadcast, viewers could see that Grosjean jumped out of the car on his own and away from the fire.

He was then taken from the track by ambulance and the team announced after a while that he is okay, but has minor burns on his hands.

The race is red-flagged and the safety railing must be repaired before they restart.
