Tonight's football international match between Lars Lagerbäck's Norway and Israel in Oslo is canceled after an Israeli player has tested positive for covid-19.

Now there is information that the Norwegian Football Association will have to pay a fine of at least 500,000 Norwegian kroner to the Israeli Football Association for having canceled the meeting.

Information in the Israeli media claims that there will be a lawsuit filed against Uefa by Israel.

- There is no doubt that the matter lies with the Norwegian authorities, and not with the Norwegian Football Association.

But the Israeli federation plans to sue the Norwegian federation for the costs of the trip.

An amount of almost 80,000 euros, says Israel's communications manager Shlomi Barzel to Dagbladet.

Following the information that an Israeli player had tested positive, Bjørn Guldvog, head of the Norwegian Directorate of Health, which is Norway's equivalent to the Swedish Public Health Agency, made the assessment that the risk of infection was too high, and therefore the Norwegian Football Association chose to cancel the match.

"It is of course sad to cancel a match just hours before kick-off.

At the same time, it underlines the seriousness of the situation we are facing ", says Pål Bjerketvedt, Secretary General of the Norwegian Football Association, in a press release.
