The confinement will largely affect sports events, but the Minister of Sports has announced the maintenance of professional sports competitions.

The French Football Federation (FFF) has drawn up the list of competitions that would be maintained, and those that would be postponed. 

France will again idle from Friday, the start date of the second confinement decided by the government in the face of the coronavirus epidemic.

But Sports Minister Roxana Maracineanu has indicated that professional sports competitions can continue to take place despite these restrictions.

The French Football Federation (FFF) has already announced the competitions that will be maintained and those that will be postponed to a later date, that is to say after December 1.

The FFF has decided to suspend all leagues, districts, national championships of National 3, National 2, women's D2, French men's and women's Cups, and national youth championships (women and male).

On the other hand, "The National, D1 Arkema and D1 Futsal championships are not affected by this decision. The matches can therefore be played behind closed doors. The international meetings initially planned for the French team, the French Women's Team and the Espoirs are also maintained, "said the FFF.

This decision is a - meager - consolation for clubs and supporters.

"The coming weeks will be tough economically but also humanely. This is why I wanted to confirm to you this evening that the continuity of sport which is practiced as a profession is today assured", indicated Roxana Maracineanu during the examination of the Sports budget at the Palais-Bourbon.
