An American coach and a naturalized player in the Syrian national team for the basket

American coach Joseph Salerno arrived in the Syrian capital, Damascus, to assume the task of supervising the Syrian national basketball team in the 2021 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, accompanied by the new naturalized player, George Keel.

Salerno, 39, won the Best Coach in the Canadian League three times (2013, 2019 and 2020), and won the 2019 title with the Moncton Magic.

Salerno said to the Al Ittihad page on the "Facebook" website after his first meeting with the players, "I am proud to be among you. I am here to work together to develop and reach the goal that we all want to achieve."

As for the 24-year-old Kiel, 193 cm, he can play 1-2 places.

He previously played for Salerno last year and averaged 19.7 points per game.
