Fifteen clubs today elect the new federation council

The eyes of cycling fans are turning today to the Sharjah Chess Club, where the date is with new elections for the Board of Directors of the Game Federation for a period of four years 2020-2024, after the current president, Osama Al Shafar, was satisfied with the eight years he spent in the presidency of the federation.

The conflict is limited to the presidential seat, between the candidate of Shabab Al-Ahly club, the former star of the cycling team, Mansour Bouasiba, as well as the candidate of Al-Nasr club, Noura Al Jasmi.

And the two aspire to convince the General Assembly of the game of their electoral programs, and to win the presidential seat.

The elections will take place at four in the afternoon, and are administered by the Election Committee headed by Mohammed Al-Amiri, Executive Director of Al Wasl Club.

The General Assembly of the Cycling Federation consists of 15 clubs: Sharjah, Shabab Al Ahly, Al Nasr, Abu Dhabi Cycling, Dibba Al Hisn, Al Arabi, Maliha, Al Hamriya, Masfoot, Al Taawun, Rams, Al Jazirah Al Hamra, Masafi, Khorfakkan and Fujairah.

It is noteworthy that the names of the candidates for membership in the new council have been approved, as it consists of seven members, including the president, in addition to the women's seat.

They are: Yasser Dokhi (Sharjah), Harib Al Ali (Al Jazeera Al Hamra), Nayef Al Mansouri (Masafi), Abdullah Al Kaabi (Masfoot), Mohammed Al Qubaisi (Abu Dhabi Club), and Khalifa bin Omair (Al Arabi).

And on the female component: Al-Yazia Al-Suwaidi (Al-Hamriya), and Kholoud Al-Dhaheri (Fujairah).

Mansour Bouasiba (Al-Ahly Youth)

■ Bachelor’s in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Communication Major - College of Communication for Engineering.

■ Executive Director of the Specialized Communications Corporation (NEDAA).

Former cycling superstar from 1984 to 1998.

General Manager of the Skydive Cycling Team from 2014 to 2017.

Member of the Board of Directors of the Sports Sector at Shabab Al-Ahly, responsible for the cycling game since 2018.

■ He passed special courses in bicycle judging and training.

He held the position of Secretary of the Cycling Association from 2005 to 2008.

The Gulf Champion (1994 - 1995 - 1996), and the UAE champion in the youth, youth and adults.

■ He represented the national team and achieved many achievements, and participated in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

The electoral program

■ Make the federation the body responsible for all activities of the game, and a blueprint for improving the level of the teams.

■ A roadmap for local competitions, and the establishment of a regional center for the gifted.

■ Building partnerships with sports authorities to spread the culture of bicycle use.

■ Work to establish training centers according to geographical distribution.

■ The application of quality standards and institutional excellence in the work of the Union, and the use of modern technology.

Noura Al Jasmi (Victory)

■ Bachelor of Information Systems Management (Zayed University).

■ Senior Director of Systems and Policies of the Dubai Land Department.

■ I worked in marketing in the previous council.

■ She previously chaired the Women's Committee.

Supervising the organization of the first international women's cruise in the Middle East.

The electoral program

■ Continue to support clubs and develop the Federation's financial resources.

■ Paying attention to national cadres and organizing technical courses.

■ Work to establish an international training center, in cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure Development.

■ The development of domestic league races, and the inclusion of new races.

■ Work to prepare strong national teams.

■ Supporting the publication of the women's cycling game, encouraging clubs to form their own teams, and hosting the second edition of the Dubai Women's Tour 2021.

■ Reviewing and developing regulations in line with international laws of the game and club conditions.

■ Organizing and hosting the Gulf Cooperation Council Championships and the Arab Track Championship.

■ The creation of local tournaments, to expand the base of participation in the game.

Elections will take place at the Chess Club in Sharjah at 16:00.

Al Yazia Al Suwaidi and Kholoud Al Dhaheri compete for the women's seat.

Today, the General Assembly is invited to elect the seven members of the Council for the 2020-2024 session, including the women's seat.
