  China News Service, October 23. According to the official website of FIFA, the European draw for the 2022 World Cup will be held on December 7 in Zurich, Switzerland.

Due to the relevant restrictions brought about by the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the European draw ceremony of the World Preliminaries will be conducted online, and there will be no representatives of the football associations participating on the spot.

  FIFA said in the announcement that the European region of the World Preliminaries will first be held in a group stage, with 5 groups each falling into 6 teams, and another 5 groups each containing 5 teams.

  From March to November next year, each group will play home and away games within each group. The top 10 groups will directly advance to the World Cup and the second group will enter the play-offs.

In the play-offs, in addition to the second place in each group, it also contains the top two teams in the 2020-21 UEFA Europa League record.

These 12 teams will be divided into 3 groups, and will compete for the final 3 World Cup places in a single round.

  Prior to this, the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Africa, Asia and South America have taken the lead.
