Petr Cech returns from retirement to goalkeeper Chelsea

Chelsea FC has rejoined the Czech goalkeeper Petr Cech, who has retired since the end of the 2019 season, to his ranks in the English Football League, to defend his den in the event that other guards are not available for health conditions, according to the London club, where Cech is the technical director.

"Petr Cech has been called up to the team as a substitute emergency goalkeeper," said Chelsea, who includes Spanish goalkeepers Kepa Arisabalaga, 39-year-old Argentine veteran Willy Cabiero and Senegalese newcomer Edouard Mendy.

"This is a precaution due to the unprecedented circumstances caused by the Corona crisis. He will occupy the position of a non-contracted player," said the former Chile and Arsenal keeper.

At the international level, the Ukraine national team, deprived of three guards due to their infection with the new Corona virus, had to summon the goalkeepers' coach Alexander Shovkovsky for his friendly match against France at the beginning of the month.

"The reason is due to the pandemic, because the affected players should be isolated. There was a place on the list and I was available in the event of an emergency. In any case, I hope that is not necessary," said 39-year-old Chek.

Despite his absence for nearly a year and a half, the former international goalkeeper is convinced that he can help. "I think I can play a game because I train and keep in shape."
