World champion cyclist Julian Alaphilippe rode straight into a motorcycle during Sunday's Tour de Flanders in Belgium.

There was a real crash and the Frenchman had to cancel the race and on Monday the news came that he had broken two fingers in his right hand, and that he would have surgery during the day.

The motorcyclist, Eddy Lissens, a former Belgian police officer, worked during the race as one of the race leaders.

- It affected me deeply.

I feel guilty even if I can not do anything about it, says Eddy Lissens to cyclingnews.com.

- I had a positive conversation with someone from his team.

I can not and do not want to say anything more about this.

I hope that everything will be fine with Alaphilippe soon, he says.
