It took no less than a global pandemic and a season filled with galleys to one day hear Kristina Mladenovic let go to this point in public.

After her victory in the women's doubles final at Roland Garros this Sunday, the Frenchwoman took the floor to thank her entourage and look back on this strange year marked, among other things, by a doubles disqualification at the US Open after a game of cards with a Covid-19 positive Benoît Paire.

“A few weeks ago we were unfairly disqualified from the US Open.

To be here with you, Timea [Babos, her doubles teammate], and with this trophy, it's something very strong, explained the 44th player in the world.

[…] Special mention for my brother, my coach.

Thank you for your investment and your intelligence with me.

Without you, I wouldn't be here today.

We spent ten days locked up in New York, I think without you I would have been in depression.

"

"I was absolutely exhausted today" 🇫🇷

And Mladenovic concluded with an expression dear to his friend Benoît Paire: “Excuse me for my language, but a little dedication to Benoît too, but we really didn't have a cat [this season]!

To be here with the trophy, I think we can be really proud and savor so thank you.

»And strongly 2021.
