Every day, Anicet Mbida makes us discover an innovation that could well change the way we consume.

This Thursday, he is interested in an ingenious invention to avoid bad odors, the bins that freeze waste.

The only downside is the energy consumption since they must remain connected to avoid defrosting.

This Thursday morning, we innovate in an unexpected sector, that of garbage cans.

Anicet Mbida found one that freezes waste to avoid germs and odors.

This is the kind of idea you wonder why no one has thought of it before.

The big trend at the moment is to make compost with peelings, cores, leftover food, etc.

I don't know if you do it at home, but it is worth being well equipped (having a garden in particular), otherwise it rots, it smells bad and it attracts flies.

Same thing with baby diapers or a damaged dish forgotten in the fridge, it is better to empty the trash right away, if you don't want it to stink and germs to proliferate.

The advantage with this bin is that it will freeze everything, as it goes, at -17 °.

Nothing is going to flow.

No germ will be able to develop and, of course, there will be no more odor.

Does that mean you have to plug in your trash so that it freezes?

It is not very green!

No, not really and that's the downside of this technology.

Apparently, it still consumes half as much as a fridge.

As for the coolant, it would not be harmful to the environment at all.

It was the startup Pétal Clean that developed this "freezer bin".

It really looks like a regular trash can: there is a pedal on the front, it opens from the top and there is a large bucket inside.

Another advantage of freezing: the bag is no longer necessary.

As nothing leaks, you can empty the contents directly into your compost bin or into the recycling bins.

Too bad for the electricity consumption.

Otherwise, we would have seen this technology on all the trash cans.
