This defeat comes at the end of an eventful month for Paire, excluded from the US Open and kept in isolation after having tested positive for Covid-19 at the end of August, then beaten on entry to Rome and Hamburg (abandonment) these past two weeks.

Pair had as a bonus tested positive again in Germany.
