The sports fans are looking forward to the launch of the new sports season 2020-2021 in the Arab Gulf Cup competition, through the first round scheduled on the eighth and ninth of this October, and it is expected that the Football Association will circulate the amended match protocol to the clubs if it is officially approved by the competent authorities, and according to what has been announced Previously, the matches will be played without a crowd in the stands.
The resumption of official competitions comes after a hiatus of 207 days since the activity was suspended on March 15, and it was finally announced - during the periodic media briefing for the state - that the return of sporting activity in the country was announced with specific procedures and controls that included limiting the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).
For his part, Executive Director of the Professional League, Walid Al Hosani, said to Emirates Today: “We sincerely thank our wise leadership and our first line of defense for their efforts in addressing the pandemic. The return of sporting activity. The sports season will start in the next few days with the Arab Gulf Cup Championship, then the Arab Gulf League competition.
He added: “We are looking forward to a season full of suspense and clubness among the participating teams, and we call on everyone to observe precautionary measures and follow the protocol for matches, to ensure safety for all members of the football sector and limit the spread of the Coronavirus.

The ongoing 16 Arab Gulf League
The Arab Gulf League begins its competitions on October 16 with the participation of 14 teams, and the first round will be held on the 16th and 17th of this month, where the unit in the first round will host its counterpart Hatta at 6:15 in the evening, and Ajman is a guest at Al Dhafra at the same time, and it meets Fujairah and Sharjah at nine in the evening, and Al Wasl And Baniyas at the same time, while the second day of the tour will witness the holding of three matches.
Two matches will be played at 6:15 pm;
The first brings together the Kalba Federation and Al-Ahly Youth, and the second is held between Al-Ain and Khor Fakkan, and the tour ends with a victory for the Al-Jazeera team at nine in the evening.
The matches of the first round of the league will be concluded by holding the 13th round on the fourth and fifth of next January.
Amateur League Nov. 13
The Football Association has set November 13 as the date for the start of the First Division League, and the competition will conclude on April 24th, and 11 teams will participate in the competitions: Emirates, Dibba, Al Orouba, Al Hamriya, Dibba Al Hosn, Masafi, Al Dhaid, Al Arabi, Al Taawon, Masfoot and Al Bataih.
In the first round, Masafi will meet with Al-Taawon and Masfoot with Dibba Al-Hisn, Al-Dhaid with the Emirates, Al-Bataih with Al-Hamriya and Dibba with Al-Orouba.
Cup preliminaries
The preliminary qualifiers for the President's Cup competition for first-class clubs will start from the ninth of October to the seventh of next November.
Arabian Gulf Cup
The competition will start with its new system, as the preliminary rounds will be held from two rounds on the eighth and ninth of this October, then the second on 12 and 13 November, and according to the new competition system, the Sharjah team, the Arab Gulf League champion and the victory, the Arabian Gulf Cup champion, will go up to the quarter-finals directly.
The first round will witness the holding of three matches on its first day, as the Kalba Federation will host the Al-Jazira team at 6:30 pm and meet Hatta and Baniyas at the same time, and the first day's competitions will be concluded with the Fujairah and Ajman meeting at 9 pm.
On the second day of the tour, Al-Ahly youth will host their counterpart Al-Dhafra at half past six, and Khor Fakkan will be hosted by Al Ain at the same time, and the tour ends with Al-Wahda confronting Al Wasl team at 9 pm.
Round of 16 for the President's Cup
The round of 16 matches of the President's Cup will be held on the fifth and sixth of December next, during which Al-Jazirah will meet Al-Wahda, and Shabab Al-Ahly, the title holder, with Al-Nasr, while Sharjah, the league champions, will face the Hatta team, while Al Ain will face the first group in the first-division qualifiers. While Ittihad Kalba meets with the first group of first-class qualifiers, Al Wasl will play with Khorfakkan, Fujairah with Bani Yas and Ajman with Al Dhafra.
The quarter-final matches will be held on December 21-22.
