The drama lasted 2.45 hours - then Tauson celebrated the victory with 6-4, 3-6, 9-7 in one of the best women's matches so far in the tournament.

- It is somehow an insane feeling.

I had not thought this at all before the match, says the Dane to the organizer.

- She was in the semifinals of the US Open so I was just grateful to be here and happy that I got to meet such a player on such a big course (Simonne-Mathieu).

It was a dream come true of course and then to be able to win the match.

I have no words.

It was so cool, I have never experienced a match like this, says Tauson who had a break against him in the arbitration set.

Trains at Justine Henin's Academy

Four-time Paris winner Justine Henin watched the match where her adept from her own academy in Belgium is training.

For the first time in 31 years, it is a Danish woman named Caroline Wozniacki who has reached the second round of a Grand Slam.

- Denmark is such a small tennis country and she was of course my role model when I grew up.

She showed me the way and made me believe in going on tour too.

We are often compared but I am my own person.

I'm just trying to focus on myself, says Tauson, born December 21, 2002, who says that she trained with the former Danish world setter last year.

Entered the tournament via qual

Brady, ranked 25th in the world, was as late as a few weeks ago in the semifinals of the US Open while Tauson had to make his way into the French championships via qualifiers.

Clara Tauson showed proof of more than skill and talent in her Grand Slam debut.

She also had strong nerves when it pulled together in the arbitration set and sorted out two match balls against her.

The Dane, who won the junior class at the Australian Open last year, is ranked 188th in the world and is set in the second round against another American, Danielle Collins.
