The promising Italian Jannick Sinner, not yet twenty, eliminated the Belgian David Goffin, world No. 12, in three sets 7-5, 6-0, 6-3 for his very first steps at Roland Garros on Sunday.

He will face Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi, from qualifying, or Finnish Emil Ruusuvuori in the second round.

For the baptism of the new roof of the Central Court, released during this 2020 edition, Jannick Sinner, 74th in the world at 19, kept the pressure on David Goffin, N.12 world and seeded number 11, after winning the first run.

And the Belgian, quarter-finalist on Parisian clay in 2016, paid his unforced errors in series (43 for only 24 winning points).

In just two hours, David Goffin lost sharply in three sets 7-5, 6-0, 6-3.
