In the SDHL summit between Luleå and Brynäs, the newly appointed national captain for Damkronorna, Ulf Lundberg, had the chance to comment on one of Swedish hockey's hottest potatoes, the many Uland players in the highest women's league, SDHL.

Last season, there were an average of ten foreign players per team and according to critics, this hampers the development of Swedish women's hockey with less chance of playing time for young Swedish hockey players.

According to Lundberg, the problem is twofold.

- I see that the best (foreign players in SDHL, editor's note) contribute a lot to the league.

We see this not least here today and in many other matches I have seen in the series.

But in the middle layer, there are two parts.

It is partly for the clubs, I think, to really make an effort to choose a Swedish girl over a foreign one.

In addition to the clubs, it is also about the young Swedish players having to take more space:

- It is also for the young Swedish girls to tighten the bow and take those places and get up in the hierarchy.

I really want to give them that challenge, to take that place and show that we should be here, Lundberg says to SVT Sport.
