The Roland Garros tennis tournament hosts 1,000 fans per day only

The French Roland Garros Championship, one of the Grand Slam championships, postponed due to Covid-19 until late this month will have to host a thousand fans per day instead of the five thousand announced last week, in accordance with the new measures of the government.

And last week, tennis officials announced that the capacity would be reduced to 5,000 fans per day, instead of the 11,500 announced ten days ago for the tournament, which kicks off on Sunday.

But Wednesday, Health Minister Olivier Ferrand demanded new restrictions for sports stadiums in 11 "red regions" in the country, one of which includes the French capital.

A French Tennis Federation spokesman said, "As of today, we do not have any confirmation of the terms of the tournament."

Veran said that the decision to allow the presence of a maximum of 1,000 people in the stadiums would take effect "from Saturday after consultations between governors and local elected officials."

The Minister of Health announced the "closure of gyms and gyms" because they are "narrow spaces ... and unfortunately, places that may transmit the infection significantly." These new measures, which will last for two weeks, also include Bordeaux, Lyon, Nice, Lille, Toulouse, Saint-Etienne, Rene, Rouen, Grenoble and Montpellier.
