In 2017, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) shut down the double Olympic gold medalist Olga Zaitseva and two of her Russian relay teammates Jana Romanova for life, for being part of the state-run doping program in connection with the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Russia thus lost its relay silver in that championship, and Viluchina lost its Olympic silver in the sprint.

Zaitseva still suspended

All three appealed the verdict to the Sports Arbitration Court (Cas), and they came today with their verdict.

Zaitseva's appeal was rejected, while Viluchina and Romanovas went through.

Thus, 32-year-old Viluchina gets back the Olympic silver she lost.

"None of the crimes that these two athletes are accused of having committed have been substantiated more than the very suspicion that they have doped themselves," Cas writes in his verdict.
