on France 2, has announced a new drop in the tonnage of the tennis tournament (which begins on Sunday) to 1,000 people.

Advancing the argument of “regrouping of the population”, Jean Castex confirmed that the reception gauge “goes from 5,000 to 1,000” for Roland-Garros, organizers, players and staff included.

"There is then a risk that there will not be a tournament, because that's more than 1,000 people," replied the show's hosts, Léa Salamé and Thomas Sotto.

"There is no reason that we do not apply the same rules to everyone", defended the Prime Minister, returning the ball to the camp of the organizers.

This new reduction in the tonnage follows the new assembly restrictions announced Wednesday by the government for areas on heightened alert, including Paris.

Roland-Garros had already been forced to lower its gauge twice since early September, going from 20,000 to 11,500 and then 5,000 spectators per day.
