The Champions League champions nominated players were on the men's side Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski and Manuel Neuer and on the women's side Lyons Lucy Bronze and Wendie Renard.

The third nominee on the women's side is the final loser in the Champions League, Wolfsburg's Pernille Harder.

Harder and Bronze have just moved to England where they now play for Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.

The winner will be announced on October 1

The third nominee on the men's side is Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne.

Neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi are among the two finalists.

This has never happened before in the ten years that the award has existed.

The winners of the awards will be presented in connection with the group game draw for the men's Champions League on 1 October.

Klopp can win a coach award

Then, for the first time, Uefa will also appoint this year's coach.

On the men's side, it stands between Bayern Munich's Hans-Dieter Flick, Liverpool's Jürgen Klopp and Leipzig's Julian Nagelsmann.

On the women's side are Barcelona's Lluís Cortéz, Wolfsburg's Stephan Lerch and Lyons' Jean-Luc Vasseur.
