The Portuguese national football team defender Nelson Simedo moved from Barcelona to Wolverhampton for three years in a deal that could reach 40 million euros, according to what the Catalan club announced today, Wednesday.

Barcelona said on its official website: "Barcelona and Wolverhampton have reached an agreement regarding the transfer of Nelson Simedo. The English club will pay 30 million, in addition to another 10 million based on the results."

The Catalan club, which supervises his coaching this season, Ronald Koeman, after the dismissal of Quique Setien, expressed his "gratitude to Nelson Simedo for his commitment and dedication, and wished him all the best in the future."

The 26-year-old Portuguese spent three seasons in Barcelona after moving to Benfica in the summer of 2017, and he played 122 matches with him, including 82 in the Spanish League, 23 in the Champions League, 16 in the Spanish Cup and two in the Spanish Super Cup.

He won the "Blaugrana" league twice in 2018 and 2019 and the Cup in 2018, when he also won the Super Cup.

And Simedo became the tenth Portuguese player in the ranks of Wolverhampton, who is also supervised by the Portuguese Nuno Santo, after Pedro Neto, Robin Neves, Daniel Bodensee, goalkeeper Roy Patricio, Fabio Silva, Vetinia, Joao Moutinho, Robin Vinagry and Roderick.
