Anthony Davis

surprised with a triple on the horn and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Denver Nuggets 105-103 this Sunday in the second game of the Western Conference finals, which now dominate the best of seven 2-0.

Davis finished the game with 31 points, nine rebounds, two assists and two blocks to be the Lakers' leading scorer.

The starting center became the true savior of the Lakers after scoring 22 points in the second half, including the last 10 for the Los Angeles team, when the Nuggets returned to star in another comeback that this time did not prosper due to the genius of Davis.

The Nuggets had trailed by as much as 16 points, but Serbian center

Nikola Jokic

scored 11 straight points from Denver down the stretch, including a basket that made it 103-102 with 20 seconds left.

Alex Caruso

missed a 3-pointer and Jamal Murray blocked Danny Green's shot out of bounds with 2.1 seconds left.

Rajon Rondo

penetrated below the basket, found Davis on the sideline, and the All-Star center made a quick move to put the Lakers halfway to the NBA Finals.

LeBron James

had a double-double of 26 points - including five baskets from the first six shots he made from the field -, 11 rebounds, four assists and two blocks, which also helped the Lakers win.

Green and guard

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope

finished with 11 points apiece and completed the list of the four Lakers players who had double-digit numbers.

Jokic emerged as the leader of the Nuggets attack by scoring 30 points, nine assists, six rebounds and recovered four balls while Murray finished with another 25 points, six rebounds, four assists and two ball recoveries.

Backup power forward

Michael Porter Jr.

, with 15 points and four rebounds, was the sixth player for the Nuggets and the third player on the Denver team to finish with double-digit numbers.

The third game in the series will be played next Tuesday on the same stage at Walt Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando.

James led the Lakers in the first steps, with 20 points in the first half.

But in the second half the protagonist was Davis, who already scored 37 in an easy victory in the first game of the series.

This win was much tighter and it looked like it would be another great rally for the Nuggets, who trailed 16, 19 and 12 in the last three games against the Clippers as they overcame a series deficit of 1-3.

The Nuggets had overcome the deficit in the first half when Murray scored and put the Denver team with the partial advantage of 87-86 with 7:26 left.

But Green and Rondo made triples and, after a basket by PJ Dozier, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope made another 3 to put the 95-89 in favor of the Lakers.

Then came another Davis 3-pointer and the lead was placed at 100-92 before Jokic responded with nine in a row and gave the Nuggets a 101-100 lead with 31 seconds to play.

Davis put the Lakers back on top with a penetrating basket, but again Jokic pushed him back at the other end to put the Nuggets back on top with 20 seconds left.

But the night was for Davis who saved the decisive basket with a triple that earned the second consecutive victory for the Lakers.
