A little bitter note
“
I finished the tour with a little personal disappointment following yesterday's stage (the 19th note).
I had a service voucher from the team, and I missed the right breakaway.
Otherwise, overall, the collective assessment is positive, with Guillaume Martin's 11th place in the general classification.
It may be missing a victory, but Elia Viviani can pick it up tomorrow (this Sunday) in Paris.
The sprint on the Champs-Élysées is always hotly contested, everything has to work perfectly, but it is possible and that would be the highlight of the show.
"
Zero risk
“
There is traditionally a non-aggression pact on a good part of the Champs-Élysées stage, before the preparation of the sprint.
I know viewers don't always like it, but for us, it's common sense.
The urban layout is quite dangerous, with directional islands, people disinterested in the race who sometimes cross recklessly, and it would be silly to leave the Tour on a fall at that time and risk an injury that could compromise the rest of the race. the season.
We had three weeks to go to war, it's not bad already.
"
Less crazy the party
“
We accumulate emotions, positive and negative, for three weeks and in Paris, everything suddenly falls.
It's a very strong, very special feeling, but this year it will be different.
With the calendar shaken up by the Covid-19, several big races are coming quickly: the Worlds, next week, the Giro, the Vuelta, the classics ... Usually, we party after the Champs-Élysées.
This year, it will be more reasonable, because in addition, the virus is still there, and gatherings must be avoided.
"
The experience of the logbooks
“
It was an interesting experience.
For me, it's important to explain our sport to the public.
Sometimes we read thoughts on social media that make us laugh, we runners.
It's easy to comment from the sofa, while cycling is a complex sport, with a lot of tactical and technical parameters to take into account.
Hope it was informative and enjoyable to read.
In any case, it was a pleasure to share this with Internet users and RFI listeners.
