Backklippan is not very fond of looking back on previous seasons or comparing then with now.

But when Victor Hedman gets questions about previous playoffs - including the final loss to Chicago in 2015 and the fiasco against Columbus last year - he still has no problem finding a common denominator:

Learning.

"Long time"

And then it's about just about everything that's happened since the 2-4 defeat against Chicago.

- We have been here once before and it took us five years to get back.

It has been a long time before we get a new attempt, says Hedman and develops his reasoning about the wisdom that has come with the years.

- Experience.

Everything we learned then and what we have learned until now, it has helped us a lot.

It has helped us with what to expect, to have the right mood after a victory and just focus on the next match.

Experience plays a big role, and we are of course aiming for a different outcome this time.

One who has gotten better at Stanley Cup hockey is Victor Hedman.

Before this year's season, the 29-year-old had scored 7 goals in 84 playoff games.

"Found openings"

Now he is already up to 9 goals after 19 games.

- "Stammer" (Steven Stamkos) has not played and then the shots must come from somewhere else.

I have been active and found openings where I can shoot, and have been a bit lucky with the bounces of course.

I shoot to score and not just to shoot, he says.

Countryman John Klingberg - whose Dallas is in the finals for the first time since 2000 - thinks that Hedman is "dominant out there".

- As big as he is, the skating he has and the "reaction" he has.

You think you can beat him on the outside but then he is still there, he says.

- He is probably the best defender in the whole league, without the puck, and definitely one of the best with the puck as well.

He's one of the players we need to keep an eye on.
