Primoz Roglic is quite disappointed by the loss of his yellow jersey in the Tour de France.

The Slovenian lost the lead in the general classification on Saturday to his fellow countryman Tadej Pogacar in a nerve-racking climbing time trial.

"Of course I am disappointed with the result, but I gave everything", Roglic regretted after the time trial, in which he defended a lead of less than a minute over Pogacar and eventually lost almost two minutes to his fellow countryman.

Halfway through the race against the clock, the leader of Jumbo-Visma was already more than half a minute behind Pogacar and on the final climb to La Planche des Belles Filles the difference became bigger and bigger.

"Of course it is not nice to hear those split times, but I couldn't push enough and couldn't get the wattages I needed to win," Roglic said.

"I've done everything I can, but this is the result."

Roglic congratulates Pogacar after a sensational time trial in Tour

'Pogacar really deserves this victory'

In the last kilometer he also suffered from his helmet.

"That was the first time I used it. But it was not the helmet, but the legs."

Because of his unleashed performance in the time trial, Pogacar is almost certain of the overall victory in the 107th edition of the Tour.

The French cycling round will conclude with the traditional ride to the Champs-Elysées in Paris, but that stage does not normally cause any shifts in the top of the general classification.

Roglic, who is now second in the standings at almost a minute, took the loss of his yellow jersey to Pogacar sporty.

"Immediately after the finish, I congratulated him and said: chapeau. He really deserves this victory."
