Dresden-born Hamburg player Toni Leistner ended up in a negative focus against his old club Dynamo Dresden during Monday night's cup meeting.

After the match, Leistner went to the doctor and got into a fight with Dresden's supporters.

"Should never happen to me"

Leistner said in German media that he had received harsh insults from his old fans, directed at himself and his family.

Now Leistner gives his own view on the incident with the following post on his instagram account.

"After the match, I received serious insults from the stands, in my own hometown. This is something I can normally handle. But there were extreme blows under the belt against my own family, wife and daughter. At that moment, the fuse went for me, because the match was extra emotional for me. But that should never happen to me, as I am a family man who wants to be a good role model. I apologize for my behavior and can only promise that, no matter what insults, it will never happen again, "writes Toni Leistner, who played for Dresden until 2014.
