The Superior Sports Council (CSD) has located an outbreak of COVID-19 that affects six internal athletes of the

Blume Residence

, where the athletes who train at the High Performance Center (CAR) of Madrid are housed, according to reports the CSD in a statement.

The cases were detected this Tuesday and the results of the tests have been immediately communicated to the Community of Madrid and the health authorities.

The president of the CSD,

Irene Lozano

, had a telephone conversation this Wednesday with the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, to inform him about this coronavirus outbreak.

In application of the health protocol of the Council and the Early Response Plan in a scenario of control of the pandemic by COVID-19 of the Ministry of Health and the Autonomous Communities, the Sub-Directorate of Sports Promotion proceeded on Tuesday to

isolate the six athletes

who they tested positive in PCR tests.

Likewise, in coordination with the health authorities, it has acted with the close contacts of those affected by COVID-19 to, if determined by doctors, also isolate them and subject them to virus detection tests.

In the same way, and despite the fact that the

Judo Federation

had not made use of the CAR facilities since last Friday, it has opted for the closure of the judo rooms and fight for their total disinfection, as well as the gym.

In a few days, if no new positives appear, they will be reopened and activity will resume as normal.
