On August 12, the International Cycling Union (UCI) announced that it would be "impossible" to hold the championship because the Swiss authorities banned gatherings of more than a thousand people until September 30.

According to information to SVT Sport, the World Cup will still be held and the message is expected to be presented during the day.

The UCI is said to have landed in two countries, Italy and France, where France is the hottest candidate.

SVT owns the rights to broadcast the World Cycling Championships.
