Ewan flew past five other cyclists and then also the Irishman Bennett to pinch the victory after a powerful sprint.

- In the chaos that was at the end, I held back a bit, and it gave me the chance to rest my legs a bit before the final sprint.

And I managed to find a way forward.

There is always a small risk of coming from behind, but I got through the wall in front and it was resolved in the end, says Ewan in Eurosport's broadcast.

Fourth stage victory

The victory on the 198-kilometer mountain stage from Nice to Sisteron was Ewan's fourth in the French cycling classic.

In the end, it was a large group of cyclists who made up for the sprint, but large parts of the stage were otherwise a single long hunt.

The Frenchman Jérôme Cousin made a break with almost 130 km left to drive.

It lasted a long time, but with 15 kilometers left, the cluster was catching up.

In the summary, home cyclist Julian Alaphillipe still leads.
