It became dramatic when 27-year-old Oliver Berntzon, originally from Anderstorp, won a place on the big World Cup stage.

In his last heat of the competition, Berntzon needed to take at least two points to be able to move up among the top three, who qualify for the World Cup.

Two skiers were excluded

There he met Polish Krzysztof Kasprzak and Russian Andrej Loktajev, who were both ahead of Berntzon in the summary before the heat.

It ended with Loktaev being expelled first, and in the restart Krzysztof Kasprzak crashed with the British Adam Ellis and was also expelled.

Ellis also did not restart in the heat due to injury, and Oliver Berntzon could easily win the third restart against incoming course reserve Nick Skorja.

This means that he had the points required to secure a place in the World Cup.

Oliver Berntzon ended up second in the competition behind the Slovenian Matej Zagar and also took the finally third-placed Krzysztof Kasprzak to the World Cup series 2021.

Permanent place in the championship

Oliver Berntzon, who drives for Dackarna in the Swedish elite series, has previously made occasional appearances in the WC series, but next season he has a permanent place in the championship as one of 15 regular drivers.

He can be joined there by Fredrik Lindgren and Antonio Lindbäck, who next weekend will start this year's World Cup series.
