In Toronto, tonight's NHL meetings began with Washington playing the New York Islanders. Washington's Nicklas Bäckström stepped off the ice injured already after 2.30 minutes of the first period. The Swede went on an open ice tackle by Islanders team captain Anders Lee who got two minutes for interference for the increase. Bäckström rested some change but then came back. But when the second period was to begin, it was without the Swede on the ice and there was no more play.

Washington has, in line with the rules that apply in the NHL bubbles, not given any details about Bäckström's injury situation or whether it will affect his game in upcoming games.

- We will update you more tomorrow. He will be investigated further, says Washington coach Todd Reirden after the match.

"Do not be there mentally"

Washington started the scoring through TJ Oshie who fixed 2-0 halfway into the second period. But New York Islanders Jordan Eberle reduced and before the third period, the score was 2-1 to Washington.

Anders Lee equalized in the first minute of the third period, and then Washington lost control of the game.

-We felt good and we created chances but it (the puck) simply did not go in. When we went into third, it was with the same mentality - to continue accelerating and continue with pucks against the net, says Anders Lee.

Iceland's strategy succeeded because the team changed and won 4-2.

- It feels like we were not really there mentally, says Washington's TJ Oshie about the loss in the third.

Colorado decided quickly

Colorado won 3-0 over Arizona in the first quarterfinal between the teams. All goals came within a minute and a half.

It took a while before the puck reached the finish line in the first quarterfinal between Colorado and Arizona in the NHL bubble in Edmonton.

But 13 minutes into the third period, it came loose for Colorado when they fixed 3-0 in less than a minute and a half.

The first goal came in power play when Nazem Kadri poked the rebound after a shot from Cale Makar. Ten seconds after that came the next Colorado goal, this time by JT Compher.

And just over a minute later, the nail was put in the coffin when Gabriel Landeskog in the middle of a tackle passed to Mikko Rantanen who found a gap with Darcy Kuemper in Arizona's cage.

-It creates a good feeling going forward, says Kadri about winning the first playoff match.
