PSG face Atalanta Bergama on Wednesday night in the quarter-finals of the Champions League Final 8. The Parisians have to deal with several injured players, including Kylian Mbappé. Hit in the ankle three weeks ago, the world champion could still be on the substitute bench. According to Guy Roux, consultant for Europe 1, it's a hell of a gamble for coach Thomas Tuchel.

Will PSG qualify for the Champions League semi-finals, which they have not played since 1995? The Parisians play their qualification Wednesday evening (9 p.m.) against Atalanta Bergamo, in Lisbon. For this meeting, the club of the capital must face several absences: Marco Verratti is injured, and Angel Di Maria is suspended. It is "the most stupid absentee", reacted Guy Roux on Europe 1 Wednesday morning. The Argentinian received a yellow card, synonymous with suspension in the next match, in the quarter-final second leg against Dormund (2-0), while he was… on the sidelines.

Mbappé fit but fragile?

But it is the state of Kylian Mbappé's injury that worries the Parisian clan the most. Will the French international be delivered on time? Victim of a big sprain in the final of the Coupe de France against Saint-Etienne, he could nevertheless be present on the substitute bench. "He was admirably treated by the doctors of PSG", greeted Guy Roux, before showing some concerns. "He is in good shape, but with fragility. He risks being injured by an opponent's tackle." Thomas Tuchel will he enter during the match? "It's a heavy responsibility," commented Guy Roux.

A significant risk of relapse

The former Auxerre coach compared the Parisian's case to that of Paulo Dybala. Painfully recovered from a left thigh injury, the Juve player had to leave the field just minutes after coming into play against Lyon last Friday. "Mbappé is more solid than that," said Guy Roux. "But he can still have an accident. If he is seriously injured due to a relapse, I think that coach Thomas Tuchel would not survive it," he said.

Finally, PSG will have to do without Layvin Kurzawa, also injured. "It is perhaps a blessing that he is not there", smiled Guy Roux.
