The Champions League match between RB Leipzig and Atlético Madrid in Lisbon will continue on Thursday despite two corona infections, UEFA has announced. The virus was diagnosed with Atlético players Sime Vrsaljko and Ángel Correa on Sunday.

Although the two positive tests cause problems for Atlético, "the game is going as planned," a UEFA spokesman told AFP news agency on Monday .

Following speculation in the Spanish media, Atlético announced on Monday that defender Vrsaljko and attacker Correa are the ones who have the corona virus. The Croat and the Spaniard are in self-isolation and will miss the match against Leipzig anyway.

Due to the infections, Atlético had to postpone the trip to Portugal from Monday. Moreover, the last training in the run-up to the flight to Portugal was canceled.

With Atalanta-Paris Saint-Germain, the first quarter final of the Champions League is scheduled for Wednesday, followed by Leipzig-Atlético (Thursday), FC Barcelona-Bayern Munich (Friday) and Manchester City-Olympique Lyon (Saturday).

All quarter-finals start at 9 p.m., are played in Lisbon and are about one match. The same goes for the semi-finals. The final battle is on August 23.
