Tokyo Odaiba Olympic symbol exhibition Canceled for safety inspection August 6 at 11:49

Due to the postponement of the Games, the exhibition of the huge monument of the Olympic symbol in the sea of Odaiba, Tokyo was temporarily suspended from the 6th for a safety inspection.

This monument was set up in the sea of Odaiba in January in an attempt to boost the momentum of the Tokyo Games that was scheduled.

This is a huge monument of the Olympic symbol measuring 33 meters in width and 15 meters in height, and the exhibition was temporarily suspended from the 6th because a safety inspection was required due to the 1 year postponement of the event.

From the morning of the 6th, the diver removed the wire tied to the concrete on the seabed.

And before 10am, the pontoon carrying the monument slowly towed to the shipyard in Yokohama and left Odaiba.

Depending on the city, it will take about 4 months to check the durability and perform maintenance.

Miyako wants to install it again in the same place by the end of the year at the earliest.

Atsushi Yanagimizu, Director of the Tokyo Metropolitan Olympic and Paralympic Games Preparation Bureau, said, “When I return to Odaiba, I want many people to get acquainted with it as a symbol of the Games”.
