In disagreement with his steering committee on the date of the next federal election, Jean-Jacques Mulot is leaving the ship. The 71-year-old president of the French Rowing Federation (FFA) will resign from the post he had held since 2003, the body announced on Wednesday.

Elections scheduled for December

In November 2019, the date for the election to the presidency of the Federation was set for December 5, 2020. With the health crisis, Jean-Jacques Mulot, who confirmed that he was not running for a new term, wished to postpone the poll of a few months. Its goal was for the federation to be able to devote itself "fully for a few months to managing the resumption of all activities in the best possible conditions", explained the FFA.

The steering committee, however, rejected this proposal on August 3. As a result, "Jean-Jacques Mulot considered that he no longer had the confidence of the management committee to support the federation during this period". According to the statutes of the federation, a member of the office must be elected by the executive committee to temporarily exercise the functions of president, until the next meeting of the general assembly.
