Dylan Groenewegen bizarrely won the first stage in the Tour of Poland on Wednesday. The rider of Jumbo-Visma was the fastest in the mass sprint, but already crossed the line after a crash with Fabio Jakobsen. The Dutch champion flew full in the crush barriers.

The 27-year-old Groenewegen may still have to fear for his victory, because the Dutchman deviated from his line in the sprint and thereby hindered Jakobsen, who crashed hard.

Behind Groenewegen, Marc Sarreau finished second and Luka Mezgec third. Moreno Hofland finished ninth.
