Today, the Swedish Sports Confederation had a meeting with Minister of Culture and Sports Amanda Lind (MP) and there they expressed, among other things, a wish for further support from the government and the opportunity to let in spectators at the matches.

- The Swedish Sports Confederation wants to see an extended financial support but also how sports can expand the audience and participants in sports activities during the autumn. We also continue our conversations with the Public Health Agency and the Police regarding the limitation of audiences and participants, says Björn Eriksson in a press release.

"Strikes very strangely"

Minister Amanda Lind understands the frustration of sports as the 50-person rule only applies to events and not, for example, restaurants.

- It strikes very strangely sometimes. It can seat 100 people in a restaurant, but if a troubadour comes in, suddenly 50 people have to leave. I understand that it can be perceived as strange and it is also a reason why we look at what we can do for culture and sports to have better conditions in the future, she says to SVT and tells that a message about how it will be for sports will come to arrive within the next few weeks.

"It has been shown to involve great risks"

Björn Eriksson and Amanda Lind sound clearly more positive than state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell. This is how he answered when SVT at today's press conference asked the question of what it takes to let go of the 50-person rule:

- Right now, given the autumn and the uncertainties we all face now, we think it is very important that we limit large gatherings. It has been shown, throughout the process, to involve great risks. It is definitely not a risk we are willing to take with the development we have right now.
