In her first tournament since she was in Mexico in early March, it was a travel pass directly for Rebecca Peterson. The 44th ranked Swede was good in the first set, where she lost her own serve late and lost 5-7.

In others, Camila Giorgi seemed to gain momentum. The Italian took four straight paper clips, and put enormous pressure on Peterson.

Peterson, however, would wake up, and created some nerve in the match again. The 24-year-old took three straight paper clips and approached Giorgi. But at the position 5-4 and own serve, the Italian was able to close the match after two straight sets to Giorgi, (7-5, 6-4).

Slovenian Kaja Juvan is now waiting for Giorgi, who shockingly knocked out second-seeded Marketa Vondrousova, Czech Republic.
