It was at the beginning of July that the Umeå team Iksu left the message that they were withdrawing from SSL due to financial worries.

Johan "Jocke" Sjöström is a former club icon in Iksu and has for a while sat on double chairs. Partly as club manager in Iksu but also as sports manager in the other Umeå club, Thorengruppen.

The club that is now waiting for the news to take over Iksu's place in SSL. When SVT Sport reaches Sjöström, he has not yet heard anything new from the association that has said that they are currently on holiday.

- I have not received anything concrete from the union about the place in SSL. I called RIN (Riksidrottsnämnden) and checked if any appeal had been received before that time expired last Friday, but they had no registered case. Probably no one has appealed, but it can also be with someone who has a holiday and who has not gone in and registered it, says Sjöström and continues:

- But if no appeal has been received, it would mean that we will be offered a place. Then I called the union and they said that it is a holiday and that it will go out next-next week if no appeal is received. At 90 percent, it is clear what the squad will look like if it is only confirmed that there will be games in SSL.

Will fight at the top

Sjöström confirms that several players from the old Iksu squad will be part of Thorengruppen's SSL team.

- I do not want to comment on it before it has been communicated in the right way. But it looks good and there is a lot of interest, so there will be players from IKSU who are part of the new squad, including some from the Thorengruppen and some new ones from outside.

How good can you be already next season?
- We will very quickly be able to be part of the war at the top. It will be a slightly different and younger team where we have to meet some of the younger players to be directly in the top and at the same time keep the established players injury free. It will be an exciting squad with U19 national team players and also more local players.

SVT Sport was previously in contact with the Iksu star, Emelie Winbron. Then she was unsure of her future, after she was set on ending her career at Iksu.

- For me, it has meant so much to play floorball in Iksu. Partly because I have already played for ten years, but also because I had decided a long time ago that I would continue to play all the seasons I have left in my body here, she then told SVT Sport.

But according to Sjöström, the vast majority have been positive tones in the conversations with the players.

- It has been extremely positive. It has been the main track for many to play in Umeå and the players have most wanted to know what the team will look like and which association they will represent. At the same time, I have urged them to keep the doors open and hold dialogues with other associations if there are such thoughts as I could not promise anything.

Sjöström confirms that there are agreements with several old Iksu players.

- There are strong signals that most people want to stay in Umeå to see what happens. There are formal agreements with many of the players. When it is one hundred percent ready and we get the place, we can go out with more information about the squad.
