Egyptian football team goalkeeper Essam El-Hadary, 47, announced his formal retirement from football and not returning to play again.

Today, Friday, the Egyptian newspaper, Al-Gomhouria, quoted televised statements about Al-Hadary: "The ball is my second time and I fired it," stressing, "Do not play another ball, the entire system has errors and channels and club heads attacking each other, and may God be in the help of the players."

He added: "There is nothing to add to my footballing history. There is no goalkeeper in Egypt better than me. I only sat on the bench in 1998 for goalkeeper Nader El-Sayed."
