  • Stéphane Ruffier may have played 383 games with the Greens since his arrival from Monaco in 2011, his status has eroded since last February.
  • After refusing to start a match against Reims on the bench, in favor of Jessy Moulin, the 33-year-old goalkeeper is in cold with his coach Claude Puel.
  • According to L'Equipe, he received a letter on Monday indicating his layoff as a precautionary measure.

Rarely in the history of Ligue 1 has a player seen his career in a club as destroyed by media outings by his agent as Stéphane Ruffier. On February 21, his adviser Patrick Glanz dismantled Claude Puel: “The coach established a dictatorial power struggle with all the components of the club. There, he spits on a legend of AS Saint-Etienne ”. For the past five months, Stéphane Ruffier has gone from undisputed holder of the Greens, with 383 games played in nine seasons, to third goalkeeper totally cold with his coach.

Started with the promotion of Jessy Moulin in February, who was reinforced by Claude Puel during the two recent ASSE preparation matches, this announced break between the club of Forez and his "legend" has apparently experienced a new episode on Monday. The Team thus reveals that the 33-year-old goalkeeper, under contract until 2021, would have received in hand a letter indicating his layoff as a precautionary measure.

Rémy Cabella supports him on Twitter

The official communication from ASSE is as follows: "Stéphane Ruffier did not want to train on Friday, so this is a breach and the club is studying the follow-up to be given to the situation". The player, who receives the largest salary of the workforce of Stéphane, would be summoned on July 22 by his management and his departure is no longer in doubt.
