The Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) lifted the punishment imposed by UEFA on Manchester City, who will thus be able to play the Champions League for the next two seasons. Likewise, the TAS reduced the economic fine to 10 million euros, less than half of what was initially imposed for the breach of the Financial Fair Play.

UEFA had punished the 'citizen' club in February for inflating revenues from its sponsors linked to the Abu Dhabi United Group, owned by Mansour bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan, owner of the City, to comply with the Financial Fair Play between 2012 and 2016 .

Last Friday, Pep Guardiola had been "confident" about the TAS decision. In two days, the Spanish coach will lead his team against Bournemouth on the 36th day of the Premier, although his most crucial match will come on August 7, when he receives Real Madrid on the return leg of the Champions League round of 16 (1 -2 on the way). The winner of that tie will face the winner of the crossing between Olympique de Lyon and Juventus (1-0 in the first leg).
