It was the tembleque match as perhaps there has been no other in this League. Two teams faced each other, Alavés and Getafe, who believed that they had their respective tasks almost done before confinement, but which the restart of the competition has put on the brink of collapse. It is not the same, of course, since it is not comparable to be out of Europe with descending in Second, but after all, both have something to defend and fear not having enough weapons to achieve it.

With this scenario, the tie seemed the only possible solution in Mendizorroza. Both were so afraid of losing that they did not risk the least in search of a greater benefit. Getafe had it closer, with a shot to the post of Cucurella and a goal by Hugo Duro well canceled by hand, but from very early it was guessed that the distribution of points would be the end result. For Alavés, the tie means a distance of four points from Mallorca and Leganés with only six to go, while Getafe, now tied for sixth with Real Sociedad, sees Athletic alone and three points away. Both will have to suffer in what little is left.

Without Etxeita, Nyom and Damián, the three sanctioned by the tangana of the end of the duel against Villarreal, Bordalás was forced to compose a defense as unprecedented as it was strange. Cabaco, a center-back, was chosen to occupy the right-back and Timor, a midfielder, accompanied Djené in the center of the Azulones behind. Between some things and others, on the Getafe bench in Mendizorroza there were only eight players (now there can be up to 12), including two goalkeepers. Muñiz, for his part, arranged a lineup that, with the exception perhaps of Camarasa's replacement, would also have been signed by his dismissed predecessor, Asier Garitano.

Whoever played, you could already guess what the dynamics of the game would be. To put it mildly, it didn't seem like it was going to be a pleasant encounter to watch and, indeed, it wasn't. Throughout the first half, everything was limited to set pieces, good free kicks, or corner kicks, in which the goalkeepers were not even minimally intimidated. Only a right hand from Cucurella that burst one of Roberto's sticks timidly shook a tedium that was highly conditioned by the fear of both of them to go each empty. Getafe had a lot more control, but it did not help them to go to the locker room with an advantage on the scoreboard.

The second part went through identical courses, with just one shot by Lucas Pérez after one against and another by Arambarri, none really dangerous for his rival. The thing was encouraged in the final minutes. Hugo Duro scored, but the review in the VAR showed that Mata had touched the ball with his hand during the play. Arambarri also tried it again, without getting the zero to zero to move from the scoreboard.
